One of the characteristics of currency trading is the fact that can be very stressful but yet a lucrative home business. As a professional forex trainer, I found many people start trading forex without know these ground rules. I’ll like to share these rules as a personal advice to those who want to succeed in forex trading: Rule #1 – The best forex signals that any new trader can find is by developing one method that will continuously produce you profits day in and day out. It is the best way to approach trading in the market. Rule #2 – The forex trading strategies that you use does not have to be a holy grail, and there isn’t one. The strategy merely needs to produce consistent profits that are enough for living and you don’t necessarily have to produce 10 or 20 pips everyday to be successful. In fact, having a forex trading system that produces two or three hundreds pips per month will be more than enough to make you a wealthy individual. I’m not joking and this is definitely achievable. Rule #3 – Many people look to evaluate the market with as many forex trading techniques and in as many different ways as they possibly can. They don’t realize that this results in making everything extremely complicated and very unorganized. Rule #4 – Most people thought that by finding a great trading system that has 100% success rate will do the job. That is not true because every systems have its flaws and it’s up to individuals to adapt to it. That is one of the reasons why you need a simple forex trading guide that will work well, gives you the right education and contains ample information so that you can solely rely on it. Rule #5 – You can’t learn trading by just reading and learning it, you have to practice on demo or live trading. Just like going into a battle, you know you won’t survive if you just train on stimulation right? You have to really go into real physical training. Though you might experience some cuts, pains here and there, but you are actually putting your skills into use. Rule #6 – You have to find what kind of strategies suit you best. Some people prefer using forex day trading strategy, some prefer short swing trading while others only do long term trading. I would say that most of the strategies can work if you are well-versed in it. You don’t have to master all of them because you can be very successful when you specialized in just one strategy. Rule #7 – While many think that currency trading is hectic and exciting, I beg to differ. Currency trading should be boring because first, you need patience to wait for opportunities and second, it’s just like a routine work by following the rules of trading system. Rule #8 – I cannot be stressed enough that you do not need to have genius knowledge to learn how to trade forex. Before you try to experience it yourself, I can tell you that the more you know about currency trading, the more it is going to confuse you and those will restrict you from making trading decisions. All you have to do is to follow your trading system to make profits, don’t need to consider so many factors. That is why some automated forex trading systems perform well, because they trade according to their rules.

When I say everything, I mean everything. Get rid of all the indicators that you think you can’t live without, so you are basically just looking at a simple bar or candlestick chart.After you did all that, can you tell me what you see? If you said “the price”, then you, my friend know the secret to trading. It’s not about all the bells and whistles that you can use. It’s simply understanding price movement. For whatever the reason, traders have this idea in their head that they have to trade with indicators. It’s a shame the trading community has gotten this way.I was a victim of having this kind of mindset when I first started trading. I absolutely buried my charts with tons of indicators, and after months of losing money, it finally dawned on me that I was looking at this all wrong.So, I did just what I recommended. I cleared out my charts and looked at them from a totally different perspective. Something really interesting happened. I was able to see that the prices of currency pairs had these price patterns which were going on right under my nose every single day. I wanted to kick myself for not paying attention to this. From that day forward I never put another indicator on my charts, and I have been a more successful trader because of it.

There are many novice traders in commodity trading & forex trading that feel they need to have accuracy higher than 70% or even 80%. This is absolutely inaccurate. These are the same inexperienced traders that believe that they can have an automated forex holy grail system.

The fact is,firstly traders in both commodity trading and forex trading need an exact plan built around risk management and money management. In both cases again, in forex trading especially due to the immense leverage risk per trade should not be risking more than 1% max of your account size. Yes..that is it.. not more..if it use more risk…you stand the chance of blowing up. Taking 1% risks some say will never get me to my goals.. Wrong.. position sizing and simply the odds of making yourself available will get you to your goals. What I mean is, when you have a trade coming out a quiet period for the same risk..you might be able to put on a bigger position without increasing your risk. Continuing on that thought..if the trade works… you have the same risk…but more muscle behind the trade and more potential for profit.In forex trading as well as commodity trading…there are only 4 options. Big profits.. small profits..Big Losses..and small losses… If you negate the big losses with immediate stops in the markets.. small profits and small losses will cancel out each other. You will be left with one option, Big profits ( as rare as they are). Due to this reality and the fact that I have seen in the real world for more than 15 years accuracy means nothing. The only thing accuracy means is $$$$$$ to snake oil system sellers or forex signal sellers.In our trading in our commodity pool our accuracy might be in the low 40% range. I never really even stopped and thought about it. What all I am concerned about is the risks inherent in trading. I know that I do not know the future. I know that we must take every trade. I know that my opinion means nothing. All of this I have learned over 15 years of trading and having experienced colleagues that have been in the field even longer, since 1983. We have seen every mistake possible. The idea that accuracy increases returns does not hold up in the real world of trend following and especially in commodity trading and forex trading.

Trading Forex Breakouts – Breakout Trading Strategy

Many new Forex traders ask what trading system is better to start. I believe the simpler the system the easier can a trader learn to trade. In my opinion trading systems based on a breakout method are the simplest and easiest to trade. I would like to discuss the advantages of breakout method and give a few examples of it.

1. What is the breakout method?

First let’s define what the breakout method is. Whenever you define a price range and the price breaks out of that range you have a trading opportunity. The range can be defined in different ways. Usually it’s a period of time where price did not move a lot. It can be the period of Asian session. Sometimes an indicator can be used to identify such a ranging period. I use Ballinger bands to identify the squeeze in price range.

2. How to trade the break out method?

It’s very simple to trade the breakout method. First you need to set a pending order to buy at the top of the range. Then you set the pending order to sell at the bottom of the range. Or if you can continuously watch the charts then you buy or sell as soon as price breaks out the range. Some people introduce more sophisticated rules into break out method. Fore example they can wait until candle closes outside of the range. The beauty of the break out method you know for sure where to place your stop-loss level.

3. Example of a Bollinger-squeeze breakout method.

This is one of my favorite trading setups. Place Bollinger indicator on your 15-minute chart. Look for the period when bands become horizontal and the distance between them becomes no more than 10-15 pips. The longer the squeeze lasts the higher the probability of a profitable breakout trade. Now place your orders on each side of the bands. The upper band is where you place your buy order, the lower band where you place your sell order. Stop-loss levels are placed at the opposite bands. With EURUSD pair this method gives at least 30 pips. But taking profit is actually art of trading. So you need to test your profit taking levels and methods with it.
